Stephen Boruff, AIA Architects + Planners, Inc. was requested to provide architectural services for the renovation and addition of approximately 26,000 square feet of space on the second and third floors of Wellington Regional Medical Center. The project was completed in three phases over a period of three years due to the on-going operations of the department. The first and second phases included the renovation of the existing Recovery/Postpartum rooms to be in line with the FGI Guidelines for the Construction of Health Care Facilities and the current standard of care. The renovation strategy included turning pairs of existing rooms into one larger room to create distinct areas for patient, family and caregivers to overcome insufficient room sizes. New Nurse Stations and renovated support spaces completed the scope of work. The third phase included a 10 bed CCU Unit with required support spaces.
