Palm Beach State College | Softball Fields

About This Project

Palm Beach State College commissioned Stephen Boruff, AIA Architects + Planners, Inc. to provide full architectural services for a 147,000 square foot, $33 million, Public Safety Training Center on the Lake Worth Campus. The project integrates Fire Science, Criminal Justice, EMT and Paramedic Academies into one comprehensive complex.

As part of this effort, the Palm Beach State College softball field and press box had to be relocated. The NCAA regulation size lighted softball field with gravel warning track down the sideline and around the perimeter of the entire outfield, includes dugouts for the home and visitor’s team, spectator bleacher seating for over 200 accommodating handicap access, telephone at field level, batting cages, pitcher’s “bull-pen” and a 2,000 square foot Press Box with Public Toilet Facilities and Maintenance Facility. The field design is positioned so that no player will be looking into the sun at any time during the game. To accentuate and contain the field, palm trees line the first and third base lines outside the required fencing.
