Palm Beach County Fire Rescue | Station No. 32

About This Project

Palm Beach County Fire Station No. 32, located on Lake Worth Road, services a rapidly expanding population with escalating demands for fire rescue service. The design for the replacement facility addressed these programmatic needs, as well as the need for it to remain operational during the construction of the replacement station. Stephen Boruff, AIA Architects + Planners Inc. was asked to provide not only a scheme to accommodate this need, but a design capable of providing adequate facilities on an already narrow site. The solution takes the form of a two story station, which accommodates PBC Fire Rescue’s traditional program in a much narrower footprint. This also allowed the new station to be constructed immediately behind the existing structure, which was demolished after its completion. The architectural style is responsive to the surrounding area, while establishing progressive design ideas and a clean vocabulary which still communicates the building’s purpose.
